Starting the business in 1979 Michael has helped Balmain to grow from a one man start up to become the largest commercial loan origination and loan servicer in Australia. Commencing his career in property development in 1987, subsequently working with such luminaries as Robert Whyte, Kerry Packer and John Singleton and currently Balmain’s CEO Andrew has been intimately involved in both the property and finance markets for over 20 years at the highest level.
His strong financial skills and legal training are core to Andrew’s ability to correctly structure and complete substantial corporate mergers and acquisitions, real estate developments and securitised debt facilities.
Educated at Geelong Grammar in Victoria and Melbourne University where he read Law and Commerce Andrew has recently married and has welcomed into the world his first child, Archie Griffin.

David joined Balmain Corporation in April 2010 and has particular responsibility for originating funds and new funds management activities across property and other asset classes. These other asset classes are likely to include equities, fixed income and alternatives - in both private and public markets.
David will also seek institutional capital to support Balmain Commercial's asset origination business in Australian commercial property loans.
David has over 22 years of institutional funds management experience across a broad range of asset classes. He has worked for companies including Allco Finance Group, Rothschild and Massachusetts Financial Services. An experienced fiduciary and investment business builder, David has originated funds and new funds management activities with career capital raised exceeding A$ 5 billion. David's qualifications are BComm MBA, both from the University of New South Wales, and a GradDipAppFin from FINSIA.

Judith is a professional Company Secretary with experience gained over 20 years with several high profile publicly listed companies in the investment, media and financial services industries. Judith has held the position of Group Company Secretary with Seven Network Limited, Babcock & Brown Limited and Promina Group Limited and as Company Secretary of Australian Consolidated Press Limited and Assistant Company Secretary of Consolidated Press Holdings Limited.
Judith has expertise in the management of a company secretariat function for large and complex Groups, providing advice to the Board of Directors and their Committees to assist in the fulfilment of their obligations to shareholders and stakeholders, including the Australian Stock Exchange, the Australian Securities and Investment Commission and other regulatory bodies.
Her career over the last 22 years has been in the Company Secretarial field, having worked on numerous high profile mergers and acquisitions, take-overs, IPO’s, recapitalisations and capital reductions, share buy-backs, raising finance in both the Australian and US debt markets, implementation of the ASX Corporate Governance Principles, group restructures, development of policies, administration of partnerships, joint ventures and trusts. Judith’s background prior to this was in accounting and finance.
Judith currently holds the position of Company Secretary of Balmain NB Corporation Limited and also acts as company secretary for a number of other Balmain businesses which provide principal finance, funds management and debtor finance services.

Victoria Pickles - Head of People & Growth | |||

People & Growth is responsible for the design and implementation of strategies to optimise Balmain’s business performance. We provide programs, tools and processes focused on performance, talent, organisational culture and skill development. Our services include general HR management, organisational development, recruitment, learning and development, reporting and payroll.
Victoria Pickles joined Balmain in October 2005. Prior to this, and for the past 12 years, she has held several HR management and consulting roles in addition to line management, Sales, Marketing and Training roles in various Insurance, Funds Management and Banking organisations in both Australia and NZ.
Victoria’s qualifications include Bachelor of Business (Marketing & Finance) from the University of Technology, Sydney and Post Graduate Qualifications in Human Resources, Adult Education and Training. She is a fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and an active member of the HR community.

Vikas joined Balmain in July 2005 and is in-charge of Balmain’s IT infrastructure, including in-house systems, communications and inter-office IT support. His job requires him to think on his feet at all times and strengthen Balmain’s IT competitive edge in the market. His career spans from working as a Network Support contractor in his early days, from moving on to becoming a Database Administrator, Systems Engineer, Web and Application Developer. He holds a Managers Certificate in ITIL and has completed various Microsoft certifications and Kepner-Tregoe management courses.
Vikas has over 9 years experience working with high profile organisations and on major mission critical IT systems and projects. He is an active member of the Australian Computer Society and keeps himself up to date with the latest IT developments. Vikas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences and is currently pursuing his Masters in Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales.

Melanie Stone (nee Dennison) joined Balmain in January 2005. Prior to this, Melanie was a risk professional with KPMG and a professional athlete (sailing). She works both within Balmain Corporation in the Risk Management role and also as a loan originator for Balmain Commercial. Melanie’s qualifications include Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Economics) from Monash University, Melbourne and a Masters Of Business Administration from Charles Sturt University NSW. She is individually accredited with the MFAA as a qualified mortgage professional.
